Setting up a WhatsApp AI appointment setter: 40+ steps vs. 5 steps

We set up an AI appointment setter on Lindy AI and Setter AI. Our goal is to book more sales calls from warm leads. We chose WhatsApp to reach them. Both Lindy AI and Setter AI support this platform.

Goal: We want to send a WhatsApp message to warm leads right after a form submission.

Lindy AI WhatsApp Setup

When opening the “lead outreacher” tab we are prompted with a complex flow.

Prefilled is “Gmail” as outreach method.

We switched that to WhatsApp.

But wait, does it only send 1 WhatsApp message or actually has an entire sales conversation?

It seems like it only sends 1 message at a time and then doesn’t qualify the lead further.

Lindy provides a help article on how to get the access token and WhatsApp phone number ID.

Unfortunately this help article is 32! steps long.

It’s quite the hassle setting this up.

After setting up, we have a bot that sends 1 message at a time and we have to manually configure a follow-up message. Not the result we wished for.

Setter AI WhatsApp Setup

Inside of Setter AI there are not as many options as in Lindy AI.

But everything we need to setup our AI setter.

First we want to connect WhatsApp.

We have the option for a quick setup.

This is a guided setup directly inside of meta and only has 5 steps.

We simple follow the 5-step process to connect our number.

For each WhatsApp account a new number is needed.

Setter AI let’s us purchase a WhatsApp number directly in the dashboard.

After we have connected WhatsApp, we connect our Calendly account.

Again very handy with a 2-click connection.

Alternatively we also have the option to connect Acuity scheduling.

Another popular scheduling tool.

Finally, we connect Zapier to send an outbound WhatsApp message  to our lead after a form submission (For example in Facebook lead ads).

• We click into the Zapier connection
• We select a message template from WhatsApp Business

The end result is a simple Zapier Zap that sends the lead to Setter AI.

From there the lead will receive automated messages and follow-up messages to schedule a meeting.
